Homewood Patriot Band opens Corso Zundert 2027

A collaboration that becomes real at last: from Alabama (USA) to Zundert. The Homewood Patriot Band (HPB) and Corso Zundert have been talking about the participation of the American school band since 2024. Preparing an international journey with some 200 or 300 musicians aged from 14 to 18 with accompanists involves a lot. That is why the American high school and Corso Zundert put the announcement of this special collaboration in the spotlight this early. Corso Zundert is proud that this talented marching band will cross the Atlantic and will open the parade on Sunday, September 5, 2027.

The Homewood Patriot Band is a high school band from the state of Alabama. Music education and sports education are quite common in America and form an important part in the education program. Besides gaining musical experience it is the group feeling, solidarity and pursuing a common goal that form a valuable experience for the pupils. With the school band and the musical courses the school easily reaches 400 to 500 pupils. Apart from the massive performances of the school band they also support the American football team of the school with which the school profiles itself nationally. In 2027 HPB is starting the educational year in September in a special way with an overseas performance in Europe. For that goal there are extra rehearsals in the summer months and even the schedule of the American football team is kept in mind so that HPB won’t miss a home match of their sports team. The year 2026 is used by HPB to manage the necessary fundraising and sponsoring. Thus students and parents have more time to save up for this special trip.  The performance in Zundert is regarded as the highlight in the European program.

In its own way Corso Zundert has ample preparation time to realise a hospitable reception. Nothing changes in the edition of the event in 2027 except there will be a spectacular opening act in the program. Within the Commission Parade and Exhibition a separate project group is established with know-how and skills. This project group will work out all the details and will present these to the board. During the Corso of 2026 the management of the Homewood Patriot Band will be present in Zundert and the finishing touch is made. It is a gift to be able to see a marching band of this caliber and from so far away perform during Corso Zundert in 2027.
