Molenstraat - Heroes

A tight row

Can you take your job to Corso? Yes you can! It is exactly what Yuri Dils does this year. For Molenstraat he created the display design ‘Heroes’, although the heroes were not the starting point. Yuri loves collections and presenting items that are arranged neatly. Neatly side by side, preferably arranged by colour. A tight row.

In recent years, the style of his designs has been characterized by sleek, often geometric shapes.

The design for Molenstraat also has these sleek and geometric shapes, but with a subtle amendment. We can see a large number of action figures in their packaging, hanging on the wall of a toy store: a display, as you will. These action figures represent heroes that could have been made in the 1980’s. Heroes with American names. You can’t take your eyes off these fearless heroes in their shiny packaging and at some point your mind drifts off and…. did one of those figures move? It couldn’t have, or could it?

It just might have been possible. Many extras will have to practice to stand still for a long time. Groups of extras that will resemble each other, colourful and tightly fit in their boxes. The costume department of Molenstraat will have to get to work.

The standard dahlia colours are leading in the development of the project. Molenstraat knows that manufacturing the dozens of boxes this season will be like working an assembly line. But that should be a breeze for this hamlet. Heroes!

This is the first time that Yury Dils (38) designs for Molenstraat. His previous thirteen designs were built by De Berk, Poteind and Raamberg. Yuri is a professional display designer.
